Under The Arches - Holly Duffy

As part of our series of interviews with the team here at Delineo, our Digital Content Executive Holly, joins us on the sofa for a chat about life in and out of the office.

What attracted you to Delineo?

I wanted to work for an SEO or digital marketing agency in Manchester that had teams of expertise, as I previously came from quite a traditional marketing company. We had loads of clients and it was only myself in charge of the entire digital strategy! I wanted to be part of a bigger team - a proper content marketing team, which we are now. It's great because we learn from each other and gain valuable feedback.

What does a day look like for a Digital Content Exec?

I focus predominantly online - writing SEO content for blogs and landing pages, carrying out outreach, writing press releases, producing content for infographics, plus so much more! It's rewarding to see how a piece you've written has helped the brand jump search rankings. I also manage social media accounts and write content for those, as well as partake in ideation sessions to come up with wacky campaign ideas!

What digital aspect could you not live without?

I’d have to say social media – but in the sense of sharing news. I prefer social media for learning new things and keeping up-to-date with world occurrences - from a life-changing, landmark event like the Inauguration of the US president, to the latest feature that Facebook has launched, I’d miss that, because where would you find that information? I started out writing as a journalism graduate, so I initially wanted to go into print. However, I realised quickly that the industry was declining as news was becoming increasingly viewed online. Luckily in our last year, we had a digital session where we used a CMS system, wrote content for websites and learnt about how news can spread via social media. I loved it, and I've been writing online for years since!

When you’re not under the arches, how do you spend your time?

I’ve recently started going to a figure drawing class. It takes place every week but I try to go a couple times a month. I’m not good at art at all but it’s just something I wanted to try! I went last week and it was the first time I had a nude male model who was doing some crazy poses! Other than that, I like to blog, and I’ve got a website at the moment which is mainly fashion-focused. I'm interested in vintage fashion, predominately from the 1960s, and love all the music from that era, so I spend my days either writing, dancing or dressing up.

If you were a biscuit, what would you be and why?

This is SUCH a hard question! I do love a good Jaffa Cake but I’d have to be a Foxes Cream Crunch because they’ve got a lot of layers but a soft middle!

What’s on your bucket list?

I would like to go to Australia but it’s not at the top of my bucket list right now. My mum started a children’s book that she didn’t finish so that’s my goal, to finish it for her. I would love to have my name alongside hers on the front of a novel. Maybe that's what I'll do next year - get it written and printed!
