Last November our colleague and dear friend, Catriona Walker, lost a long and courageous battle with cancer, shortly after her 47th birthday.
Cat, as she was fondly known to us, was associated with Delineo for over two decades. A talented marketeer and copywriter, Cat had a special ability of uncomplicating the complicated, and contributed to the success of many campaigns during her long time here at the agency.
Dog Walks for Cat
Inspired by Cat’s determination to maintain normal daily life for her husband Don, and young children Anna and Ben, we came up with Dog Walks for Cat, a campaign that raises money for Macmillan on behalf of our much-loved colleague.
A campaign that’s taken months in preparation, it was important for us at the beginning to get the full support of her close family and special input from her children.
Family Involvement
Hosting ideation sessions at the agency with some of our creative team alongside Cat’s family, planning the campaign not only enabled Cat’s children to be at the centre of the fundraising – from the logo design to the launch ideas – but also allowed them to discover what their mum did at work, and the impact she had here.
It has been an emotional and uplifting experience so far and we’re sure it will create long-lasting memories for everyone involved.
The Main Event
Dog Walks for Cat will centre around a six-day relay walk from Cat’s home in Newton-on-Ouse, to Delineo’s offices in central Manchester. This route will follow Cat’s commute to work – which she did for over 20 years – from one side of the Pennines to the other.
A circular family fun walk on the Sunday will be followed by five legs, each consisting of 8-14-mile stretches. Joining the walks each day will be family, friends, colleagues and well-wishers, as well as Lottie the Labrador - the campaign mascot – and other accompanying dogs.
The Details
All events are open to all and will take place from 13th Oct – 18th Oct 2019. Each walk with finish with celebrations in the evening, with two extra-special events within the week in remembrance of Cat.
