Intern insight: my first month

The greatest lesson I’ve learned since starting my internship at Delineo is that opportunity is everything. Especially since I didn’t even know it existed when I applied for a job! Originally, I applied for the role of digital content executive, and though unsuccessful I was offered the chance to complete an internship and gain more experience in content creation.

With a month of my internship completed, it’s a good time to reflect on what I’ve thought of interning in an agency, what I’ve accomplished and what makes Delineo a great place to work.

Coming from a writing background I knew I wanted to learn more about copywriting and was able to hit the ground running from my first day. Within the first two weeks I was able to write content for various clients, including It’s A Baking Thing and WST Travel. I’ve been able to take part in creative meetings and have my opinion heard and valued

I’ve also been exposed to other departments within the agency, like SEO, web development and copywriting that has a focus on slogans and briefs. This has allowed me to see the bigger picture and improve my understanding of areas I wasn’t previously familiar with.

The variation is what I enjoy most about interning at Delineo. There’s always something different to do or a new thing to learn. It’s given me a lot of creative freedom as a writer and I couldn’t be happier with the direction of my learning experience.

Seeing how Delineo implements their Digital First manifesto has been a pleasure to be involved with as they put their clients at the front of every decision.

But it’s not all work, and it’s the social element I appreciate most about being a part of the agency. Whether it’s having a beer on a Friday or seeing a dog run through the office, there’s never a dull moment. All of the team have been welcoming and it feels like I belong. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like coming to work, but more that I can pursue something I’m passionate about.

I look forward to progressing with the internship and develop a new range of skills that will keep me moving forward on my journey in digital marketing.
