The Great Delineo Bake Off

There’s nothing like a little bit of friendly competition throughout the office and last week the IET (Internal Events Team) organised bake-off was testament to this. Aspiring bakers at Delineo rolled up their sleeves, donned their aprons and dusted off their cake tins in an effort to win the title of Star Baker.

The judging was split into two categories as a selection of both savoury and sweet were to be ranked. Unfortunately Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry were unavailable for the judging, so we had our own special judges sample scones, cupcakes, brownies, pie, cheesecake, bread and more.

After much deliberation (and a lot of eating) the winners were announced. Chloe’s cheese, jalapeño and sweetcorn scones were the stand out entry in the savoury category, beating Amanda’s sundried tomato bread and Lizzie’s cheese and onion pie with homemade pastry. It was a close one in the sweet category as it had the most entries, from Sarah’s tempting rocky road to Sol’s creamy cheesecake. Lauren even made courgette cupcakes with a caramelised courgette topping! But Bonnie’s cheesecake brownies took the top spot, closely followed by Vicky’s carrot cake.

After the winners were announced, even those in the office who didn’t bake were lucky enough to tuck into the range of freshly baked treats awaiting them on the benches. Delicious!
